In Kyrgyzstan, no one has yet nominated candidate for presidency

Bishkek, Oct. 27, 2020. /Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan, no one has yet nominated a candidate for president, Deputy Chairman of the republic's Central Elections Commission Abdyjapar Bekmatov told Kabar Agency.

He said that citizens may nominate their candidates for the post of the head of state the day after the announcement of the election date. Thus, the deadline for nomination of candidates ends on Nov. 14.

According to the legislation of the republic, there are two ways to become a presidential candidate: to present own independent candidate or to run as a member of a political party.

In Kyrgyzstan, early presidential elections are scheduled on Jan. 10, 2021.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov stepped down as President of the country on Oct. 15, 2020.
