Bishkek, Oct. 1, 2020. /Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan in 2020 the number of people suffering from brucellosis decreased by 243 cases compared to the same period in 2019, the press service of the State Inspectorate for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Inspection of the country reported Thursday.
The veterinary service has been vaccinating sheep and goats against brucellosis with RS-1 vaccine since 2008.
Besides, for the purpose of sharp decrease in incidence of brucellosis of people and animals, since 2019 the vaccination of cattle against brucellosis by Ð-19 vaccine carried out at the expense of means allocated from the republican budget.
The veterinary service noted that positive results were achieved due to the measures taken against brucellosis. As a result of effective vaccination with the above mentioned vaccines against brucellosis, the morbidity rate of sheep and goats has decreased by 25 times, that of cattle by 2 times. Also thanks to such measures, the morbidity among people has decreased 6 times.
"Annually more than 4.5 thousand people were infected with brucellosis, and the amount of expenses was equal to USD 10 million. Today these data have decreased, and in some villages there are no cases of disease at all. As a result, this year's incidence of brucellosis among people is 243 cases less than in the first eight months of last year," the report says.
