Bishkek, Dec. 8, 2021 . / Kabar / . The topic of the 16 Days of Activism - Against Gender-Based Violence campaign was announced during a press conference at Kabar News Agency on Wednesday.
Representative of the UN Women in Kyrgyzstan Ulziisuren Jamsran said that the republic joined the campaign in 2012. She believes that this issue should be raised to the highest level.
"If you witness women and children crying all the time, you need to step up and offer help, call the police. After all, everyone's actions are important here," she said.
Ulziisuren Jamsran noted that work is now being done with victims of violence so that they do not remain silent.
"Less than 10% of victims who seek help take the case to court, and almost 90% write a waiver of private-public charges, or write a statement on reconciliation of the parties," the rep of the UN Woman in Kyrgyzstan added.
