In Kyrgyzstan, pace of spring field work lags behind last year by 25%

Bishkek, April 14, 2021 . / Kabar / . Unstable weather conditions in March (frequent rains with falling temperatures) led to a pace in the rate of spring field work, the National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan said.

As of March 23, 105.6 thousand hectares of spring crops were sown in the country as a whole this year, which is 25% less than the corresponding date last year.

In comparison with the last year, the area of spring barley sowing as compared to the area sown with spring crops was 31.2%, spring wheat - 28.6%, perennial grasses - 9.4%, potatoes - 6.8%, vegetables - 5.6%, oilseeds - 3.7%.

As of March 23, 2021, the largest areas of spring crops were sown in farms of Chui Oblast - 45% to area sown with spring crops by the same date in 2020, Osh Oblast - 25,7%, Batken Oblast - 16%, Jalal-Abad Oblast - 12%, the least areas - in farms of Osh city (0,8%) and Talas Oblast (0,5%).

In addition, in March this year agricultural producers carried out work on feeding winter crops on the area of 48,2 thousand hectares and spring plowing on the area of 138,3 thousand hectares.
