Bishkek, May 14, 2021 . / Kabar / . Unstable weather conditions in April (frequent rains with falling temperatures) led to a decrease in the rate of spring field work, the National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan said Friday.
Thus, as of April 23, 375 thousand hectares of spring crops have been sown across the country, which is 43.4 thousand hectares, or 10.4% less compared to the corresponding date last year.
The largest areas of spring crops were sown in farms of Chui Oblast - 42.3% to the total area of spring sowing in the current year, Osh Oblast - 20.3%, Issyk-Kul Oblast - 14.2% and Jalal-Abad Oblast - 13.8%.
The area of spring wheat sowing made up 76.5% as compared with the area sown with spring crops by the similar date in 2020, spring barley - 76.2%, sugar beet - 93 7 percent, cotton - 64.9 percent, oilseeds - 51.6 percent, corn for grain - 47.9 percent, vegetables - 45.6 percent, perennial non-vegetable grasses - 44.9 percent and potatoes - 28.0 percent.
In addition, in April this year agricultural producers carried out work on feeding winter crops in the area of 70.5 thousand hectares and spring plowing - in the area of 356.1 thousand hectares.
