Bishkek, Jan. 10, 2021 / Kabar /. The early presidential elections and a referendum on the form of government of the Kyrgyz Republic were held today, Jan. 10, 2021, head of the Central Election Commission Nurzhan Shaildabekova told at a briefing.
“According to the law, the voting results must be determined no later than 20 days from the date of voting. And the inauguration of the president should take place within a month after the election results have been determined,” Shaildabekova said.
She also noted that the law clearly states under what conditions a second round or repeated elections can be announced. According to the results of the elections, if no one candidate gets more than 50% of the votes of the total number of voters, a second round will be announced. The second round will be attended by two leading candidates.
“But there are no requirements in the law that a certain number of voters should take part in the elections,” said Shaildabekova.
