Bishkek, May 7, 2024. /Kabar/. An incident involving the use of firearms occurred on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border on Tuesaday, the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

“At approximately 12.20, not far from Ak-Bosogo village of Leilek district of Batken region, the border guard of Kyrgyzstan noticed citizens of Tajikistan - shepherds grazing cattle on the territory of Kyrgyzstan 250-300 m from the state border line.

Citizens of Tajikistan ignored the demands of the border guards to leave the territory of Kyrgyzstan; moreover, they began to throw stones at the military personnel.

One of the shepherds fired 2-3 shots towards the border guard of Kyrgyzstan. In order to prevent an escalation of the situation, the border guards of the Kyrgyz Republic fired warning shots into the air, after which the shepherds fled to the territory of Tajikistan.

There are no casualties among the border guards of the Kyrgyz Republic. According to unconfirmed reports, one of the citizens of Tajikistan was wounded in the leg.

However, under what circumstances, when and where exactly the injury was received is unknown, since law enforcement officials in Tajikistan provided only a photo.

A meeting of border representatives of the parties is expected. Currently, the situation in the Kyrgyz-Tajik sector is characterized as stable, the report said.
