BISHKEK, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- There is an increase in flu and acute respiratory viral infections cases in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the country's Health Ministry reported on Wednesday.
"According to the operative data, this year there is an increase in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections by 21 percent compared to last year, 5,510 cases were registered this year against 4,327 cases in 2017," the Ministry of Health said.
According to data from the Health Ministry, annually over 200,000 cases of acute respiratory viral infections and flu are registered in Kyrgyzstan.
Due to an increase of infectious disease cases in the epidemiological season, such as flu, measles, and viral hepatitis, hospitals have become crowded. More than 500 patients in the capital city apply to the children's emergency hospital everyday.
The increase in flu cases begin usually in the cold season. This is due to the high resistance of the influenza virus to low temperatures and a decrease in the protective forces of a person during hypothermia.
The Health Ministry ordered to strengthen preventive measures in all health organizations of the country to prevent influenza and acute respiratory viral infections.
