Samarkand, Jan. 14, 2019. /Kabar/. The first ministerial meeting of the India-Central Asia Dialogue, with the participation of Afghanistan, completed its work in Samarkand on Sunday, the Kabar correspondent reported.
At the plenary session, the Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan - Beibut Atamkulov, Kyrgyzstan - Chingiz Aidarbekov, Tajikistan - Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Turkmenistan - Raşit Meredow discussed a wide range of issues aimed at expanding friendly and mutually beneficial relations between India and the countries of Central Asia in bi- and multilateral formats.
Particular attention was paid to measures to promote mutual trade, prospects for strengthening cooperation in attracting investment, innovation and technology to the regional economies, developing the transit and transport and communication potential of Central Asian states, increasing tourist trips, and implementing specific joint projects in the fields of science, medicine, education and sports.
The foreign ministers of the India-Central Asia Dialogue welcomed the participation of a representative Afghan delegation at their first meeting and stressed their commitment to promoting the economic reconstruction of Afghanistan through joint infrastructure, transit, energy and other projects that contribute to the country's integration into the system of regional and world economic relations.
The readiness to cooperate in preparation for the Eighth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RЕССА VIII), scheduled for the second half of 2019 in Tashkent, was reaffirmed.
The heads of delegations drew attention to the significant potential for joint initiatives to intensify direct contacts between the business communities of the Dialogue countries, in the implementation of cultural events, educational and research projects with Afghanistan, expressed their intention to facilitate the participation of the Afghan side in international youth forums, festivals, competitions, scientific conferences, exhibitions and other joint events.
As a result of the founding Summit, a Joint Statement was adopted, which reports on the launch of the India-Central Asia Dialogue at the level of foreign ministers.
According to experts, the outcome of the ministerial meeting demonstrates the shared opinions and approaches to the establishment and development of a multifaceted, mutually beneficial and fruitful cooperation in the Dialogue format.
It was agreed to continue holding the Dialogue at the level of foreign ministers on a regular basis.
The heads of the foreign affairs ministries accepted the invitation of Minister Sushma Swaraj to hold the next ministerial meeting in 2020 in India.
