Indonesian President counts on early creation of free trade zone with EAEU

Bishkek, Nov. 15, 2018. /Kabar/. Indonesia expects to speed up negotiations on the agreement on a free trade zone with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), President of the country Joko Widodo stated in a conversation with Indonesian journalists following a meeting in Singapore with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I hope that Russia will assist us in speeding up the negotiations on the creation of a free trade zone with the EAEU,” Widodo said, who was quoted by the Detik news portal on Thursday.

In addition, he mentioned that Jakarta is counting on expanding "economic partnership with Moscow, primarily in the supply of palm oil, which "is one of the main articles of foreign trade of the country," TASS wrote.

The meeting of the two leaders was held on Wednesday in Singapore, where events are held through the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The EAEU is an international integration economic association, the members of which are Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. The Union began its work on January 1, 2015.
