Inflow of FDI to Kyrgyzstan increases by 95.4% in first half of 2021

Bishkek, Sept. 14, 2021 / Kabar /. The inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) to Kyrgyzstan in the first half of 2021 increased by 95.4% and amounted to USD 321.3 million, Deputy Minister of Investments of the country Nuradil Bayasov told at a press conference at the Kabar Agency.

According to his data, of them:

- Professional activity - 35.4%;

- Manufacturing industries - 35.4%;

- Extraction of minerals - 22.5%;

- Manufacturing industries - 19.3%.

"In turn, we recall that in 2020, FDI inflows amounted to USD 537.5 million and decreased by 50.1% due to the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

In addition, the deputy head of the Ministry of Investments indicated that the following work is being carried out:

- Reforming the Chamber of Commerce and Industry;

- The concept of a free economic zone is being revised;

- A project on the resolution "On pre-trial settlement of investment disputes" has been developed and is being coordinated;

- A draft resolution on the establishment of the Institute for Expertise and Preparation of Investment Projects has been developed and is being coordinated;

- A draft resolution on the interaction of government agencies in the field of investment has been developed and is being coordinated;

- A new edition of the Law on Investments in the Kyrgyz Republic is being developed.
