Bishkek, Nov. 3, 2020. /Kabar/. Influenza and COVID-19 are almost impossible to distinguish, Chief pulmonologist of Kyrgyzstan Talant Sooronbayev said at a press conference at Kabar News Agency.
"I am an experienced doctor and when a patient with a fever comes, it is impossible to tell if he has the flu or coronavirus. All those who have symptoms should be considered as a patient with coronavirus. We took the data of all patients with influenza and compared them with coronavirus patients. It is impossible to distinguish. X-rays and the tomography are similar," he shared.
In addition, the pulmonologist said that 80% of patients should not take X-rays and CT scans. They should isolate themselves first of all. Because huge queues, movement, congestion are main sources of infection.
“It is necessary to self-isolate. X-ray and CT are done only for their intended purpose. It is done only on 6th-7th days. Not everybody has to take an X-ray and PCR-analysis too. 80% of the patients have mild form of illness and should be treated at home. Why? Because the condition is not grave, and they will recover at home. There will be less spread of infection, and therefore burden on the health care system," said Talant Sooronbayev.
