Informal meeting of heads of CSTO member states kicks off in Kyrgyz capital

Bishkek, April 14 / Kabar /. An informal meeting of heads of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states has begun in Bishkek in narrow format.

This year the organization celebrates its anniversary - the 25th anniversary of the establishment.

The Collective Security Treaty (CST) was signed on May 15, 1992 in Tashkent by heads of 6 CIS member states - Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In September 1993, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Belarus joined the CST.

The CSTO was established on May 14, 2002.

At present, the CSTO unites Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. Uzbekistan suspended its membership in the Organization on December 19, 2012.

Today’s informal meeting of the heads of CSTO member states is attended by all member countries of the organization.
