Inter-parliamentary cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia discussed in Moscow

Bishkek, Feb. 7, 2024. /Kabar/. On February 6, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration of the Jogorku Kenesh Ulan Primov met with First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov.

According to the press service of the parliament, the meeting took place in Moscow. The parties discussed the current state of interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries, as well as prospects for further development of relations.

Primov noted the great role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening interstate relations. “In addition to bilateral ties, we actively cooperate on international platforms, such as the CSTO PA, the CIS IPA. Joint events are also held within the framework of specialized committees. This partnership is of particular importance in strengthening relations between our countries,” he said.

At the same time, Primov drew attention to the great opportunities for expanding cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia. “It is necessary to further develop partnership in the trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and security spheres,” said the chairman of the committee.

In addition, he shared his proposals for improving the working conditions of migrant workers.

In turn, Dzhabarov recalled that in Kyrgyzstan, which chaired the Commonwealth of Independent States last year, many events were successfully held, including meetings of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States, as well as a conference dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Chingiz Aitmatov.

In addition, he touched upon joint projects in the field of education and noted the importance of the successful implementation of agreements in this area.

During the meeting, the parties also agreed to hold joint meetings of relevant parliamentary committees.
