International Book Giving Day to be held in Kyrgyzstan on Feb. 14

Bishkek, Feb. 10, 2021. / Kabar /. This year the scope of the book holiday in Kyrgyzstan is expanding, and the International Book Giving Day will be held in Bishkek and Osh cities.

Organizers said traditionally the holiday will take place on Feb. 14 and the main purpose of the holiday is to inspire people around the world to give valuable gifts in the form of books.

"Last year, Kyrgyzstan joined this international holiday for the first time and we received a lot of positive feedback. Participants came with their favorite books, exchanged and gave to others, and families attended.

It is important to instill a love for books from childhood, so this year’s event will take place in Bishkek at the Scientific and Educational School-Complex of Moscow State University in Kyrgyzstan at 11:00 a.m.,” organizer of the event Asel Abykeyeva said.

She added the international holiday will be also celebrated in Osh, in Ololohaus.

Anyone wishing can take part. The entrance ticket is a book.

The event will also include useful workshops on making book covers and bookmarks - motivators, interactive games and competitions in speed reading.

International Book Giving Day takes place on Feb. 14 each year. The aim is to get books into the hands of as many children as possible.

This holiday is a 100% volunteer initiative aimed at increasing children’s access to and enthusiasm for books.
