International Day of Older Persons celebrated in Bishkek

Bishkek, Oct.1, 2019. /Kabar/. On Oct.1 Bishkek celebrates the International Day of Older Persons, the press service of the Mayor’s Office reported.

A relay race was organized for the elderly, including Scandinavian walking.

Employees of the National Red Crescent Society in Kyrgyzstan, members of AgeNet International helped the participants of the marathon.

Deputy Prime Minister Altynai Omurbekova, Minister of Labor and Social Development Ulukbek Kochkorov and employees of the Bishkek Mayor's Office greeted and congratulated the march participants at the finish line near the monument to Kurmanjan Datka.

Within the framework of the celebration, the “From heart to heart” exhibition-fair of handmade products was organized with the support of the Bishkek Mayor's Office, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, as well as gerontological centers of the capital.

Also, pensioners were given the opportunity to receive free medical care.

Yesterday, Sept. 30 in the Kyrgyz National Philharmonic Society named after Satylganov a festive concert took place, during which the city's pensioners were congratulated by deputies of the Bishkek city council.

There are more than 83.6 thousand pensioners in Bishkek.
