Int’l conference on international commercial dispute resolution in Uzbek capital

Tashkent, Aug.27, 2019. /Kabar/. Issues, related to improvement of mechanisms of international commercial disputes resolution and establishment of cooperation with international centers in this sphere, were discussed at a two-day conference under the auspices of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Uzbekistan, the press service of the Uzbek Justice Ministry said.

In his welcoming speech, USAID Central Asia office Director in Uzbekistan Gary Robbins noted the urgency of developing alternative ways of resolving international commercial disputes in Uzbekistan and the importance of studying foreign experience in this area.

The conference participants discussed topical issues of development of mechanisms for resolving international commercial disputes through mediation and arbitration, the relevance of Uzbekistan's accession to the Convention on International Agreements, reached as a result of mediation, etc., and conducted talks on the development of cooperation in the training of mediators, professional legal personnel on international standards and establishing cooperation with the Tashkent International Arbitration Center.

At the end of the conference, the participants expressed interest in further cooperation in the development of international arbitration and mediation institutions in Uzbekistan.
