Int’l media forum in Turkmen capital focuses on regional security issues, co-op in various spheres

Bishkek, June 30, 2021 . / Kabar / . Turkmenistan’s capital city of Ashgabat hosted on Wednesday an International Media Forum "Regional dialogue with the participation of politicians and journalists”.

The venue was the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

In turn, political scientists and national and international mass media abroad were able to take part in the forum via video conference.

The event began with a welcoming speech by Rector of the International University for the Humanities and Development Esen Aydogdiyev.

He elaborated on the country’s policy on achieving regional dialogue, emphasizing that the media forum is a unique platform for the exchange of views on all areas of cooperation.

In his speech, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Hadi Soleimanpour noted that the policy pursued by the leadership of Turkmenistan is based on the values of peaceful coexistence, permanent neutrality and harmony with neighbors.

Further, the floor was given to Baghdad Amreyev, the Secretary General of the Turkic Council. He emphasized that today regional cooperation and regional dialogue play a crucial role in building peaceful relations among nations.

"Role of regional cooperation is growing dramatically today. Cooperation within our organization is the best example for the theme of today’s meeting - dialogue,” the head of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States added.

Representatives of leading mass media from such countries as Malaysia, Pakistan, South Korea, Austria, Armenia, Georgia, Romania, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan were invited to cover the international forum.

Participants were unanimous in the view that Turkmenistan continues to contribute to peace and security in the region, successful implementing its policy of neutrality and peaceful coexistence with neighboring states.

They also expressed the hope that today's event would contribute to the development of further relations and deepening of existing ties between the countries.
