Investment outflows in Kyrgyzstan increased by 20% last year

Bishkek, March 12, 2021 . / Kabar /. Last year, the outflow of foreign direct investment in Kyrgyzstan increased by 20.1% in comparison with 2019, and amounted to $808.1 million, the National Statistic Committee of Kyrgyzstan said on Friday.

According to the report, the outflow exceeded the inflow by $330.5 million.

The main outflow of foreign direct investment (more than 91%) was observed from the sphere of geological exploration, manufacturing, mining and construction.

The outflow of foreign direct investment to non-CIS (the Commonwealth of Independent States) countries increased by 23.3% compared to 2019, mainly due to their increase to Switzerland (66.8 times), Korea (5.6 times), the UK (3.1 times), Germany (2.8 times) and China (35.7 percent).

China (62.2%) accounted for the biggest specific weight in the total volume of the outflow of direct foreign investments, followed by Great Britain (11.7%), Korea (3.2%) and Switzerland (2.8%).

The outflow of direct foreign investment in the CIS countries decreased by 3.6% due to reduction of investment outflow in Kazakhstan (2.1 times) and Uzbekistan (8.6 times). Along with this, the outflow of investments to Russia increased by 1.8 times.

In the past year, enterprises of Chui Oblast of the republic had the largest specific weight in the total volume of direct foreign investment outflow - about 44%, Jalal-Abad Oblast - about 32%, Bishkek city - more than 17%, as well as Talas Oblast - about 6%.
