Iranian detained in Kyrgyzstan with large consignment of methamphetamine

Bishkek, Aug. 17, 2022 / Kabar /. An Iranian with a large consignment of methamphetamine worth KGS 45 million was detained in Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country reported.

The route of delivery of narcotic drugs of this drug group followed from the Islamic Republic of Iran, then - to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan through the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Drug Trafficking Combat Service of the Internal Ministry seized 20 briquettes containing a white crystalline substance - methamphetamine in Bishkek.

The total weight of the seized drug was more than 10 kg. The price on the black market for 1 g of the seized substance is KGS 4.5 thousand.

The approximate amount of the total seized narcotic drug from the native of the city of Urmia of the Islamic Republic of Iran was KGS 45 million, and at the rate of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic - more than half a million dollars, the report said.

Currently, within the framework of the initiated pre-trial proceedings, further investigative and operational measures are being taken to identify other persons involved in this crime.
