Bishkek, Sept. 25, 2021 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ruslan Kazakbaev held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
According to the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry’s press service, the foreign ministers of the two countries debated issues related to trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, interaction in the field of health and the situation in Afghanistan.
Ruslan Kazakbaev congratulated his Iranian counterpart on his appointment to a high position and wished him success in his activities.
The foreign minister of Kyrgyzstan also noted the importance of the transit-transport potential between the countries, and in this regard expressed interest in using the Iran - Turkmenistan - Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan railway corridor, which contributes to increased trade turnover between the countries.
The Iranian side expressed gratitude to Kyrgyzstan for supporting its candidacy to become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
In addition, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian informed about the Iranian government's decision to provide Kyrgyzstan with a land plot and relevant infrastructure in the port of Bandar Abbas for the transit and delivery of goods to/from Kyrgyzstan.
Along with this, the foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Iran discussed the opening of the Iranian Trade Center in Bishkek.
As a result, the Iranian foreign minister invited Ruslan Kazakbaev to visit Iran at any convenient time, and the delegation of Kyrgyzstan also invited Hossein Amir-Abdollahian to visit Bishkek.
