Issue of opening schools being considered: Kyrgyzstan’s Health Ministry

Bishkek, Nov. 3, 2020. /Kabar/. The issue of opening schools in the second quarter is being considered, Deputy Health Minister of Kyrgyzstan Nurbolot Usenbayev said during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.

According to him, the issue of resuming education in schools in traditional mode is currently being considered.

"At the same time, we are discussing from which grade to allow and in what order. In the regions, governors will be responsible for opening schools. Maybe we will allow grades 1 to 5 or grades 5 to 11. Perhaps we will open schools for 2 weeks and see if it does not affect the epidemics, we will open schools. Because children have to learn," Usenbayev said.

In Kyrgyzstan, all schools have been switched to distance learning since March 2019.

Due to coronavirus pandemic, new academic year in the country began in an unusual mode - only first-graders attend schools, all others are studying online.
