Issues of ensuring macroeconomic stability in Kyrgyzstan discussed

Bishkek, Dec. 1, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Acting President Talant Mamytov met on Tuesday with Finance Minister of the republic Kiyalbek Mukashev.

Issues of ensuring macroeconomic stability in the country, financing priority development programs and the implementation of the republican budget for 2020 were discussed, the press service of the Kyrgyz president reported.

Besides, the main directions of budget policy for the medium term, the upcoming reforms in the system of public finance management and issues of effective public debt management were considered.

Minister Mukashev presented information on the work being done to ensure funding for priority spending commitments, including social payments, activities aimed at combating the coronavirus pandemic, electricity imports and coal procurement in the autumn-winter period.

The acting president emphasized that protected budget items and social payments should be financed in a timely manner and in full; there should be no delays in the payment of pensions, allowances and salaries of state employees.

He also noted the importance of intensifying negotiations with creditor countries on restructuring and extension of foreign debt payments.

Touching upon the reforms in the sphere of public finance management, Talant Mamytov stressed the ministry needs to increase the transparency and openness of the budget process.

In addition, the acting head of state paid special attention to the issues of providing the public with open and complete information on the use of foreign aid received in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
