Bishkek, Nov. 5, 2024 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Emergency Situations of Bobek Azhikeyev met with the World Bank delegation, which was headed by Regional Director for Central Asia Tatiana Proskuryakova.
The Emergency Ministry's press service reported that Azhikeyev thanked the World Bank for its support in the implementation of important projects to protect the population and territories of the country from emergencies, noting the long-standing cooperation in the field of disaster risk reduction and adaptation to climate change.
The parties discussed the progress of ongoing World Bank projects and outlined priority areas for further cooperation.
Special attention was paid to capacity building in forestry monitoring and addressing climate challenges.
In turn, Tatyana Proskuryakova emphasized the importance of partnership with Kyrgyzstan and confirmed the readiness of the World Bank to support new environmental initiatives aimed at improving sustainability and reducing disaster risks.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Azhikeyev expressed confidence in further fruitful cooperation and thanked the participants of the meeting for the visit and support of Kyrgyzstan's initiatives in the field of disaster prevention and mitigation.
