Bishkek, Jan. 25, 2018 / Kabar /. Deputy Economy Minister Almaz Sazbakov met with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (IRP) Aitzaz Ahmed.
During the meeting the issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation were discussed, the press service of the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Sazbakov congratulated Ahmed on Pakistan's accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and stressed that in recent years there has been an intensification of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan at the level of intergovernmental cooperation.
The sides stressed the important role of the 3rd meeting of the Kyrgyz-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation (ICTESTC) that was held on Jan. 11-12, 2017 in Islamabad, where the Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic presided.
Sazbakov informed that this meeting of the ICTESTC was held after a 10-year break in the activities of the Commission.
The sides discussed the possibilities for accelerating signing of interdepartmental treaties in order to expand the legal framework between the two countries.
The Pakistani side expressed interest in concluding agreements on a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and a number of Asian countries.
The sides reached an agreement on forthcoming visit of the delegation from the Ministry of Commerce of the IRP to Bishkek in late Feb.2018 to exchange experiences on exports to the EU with the application of the Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP)
The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in holding a meeting between businessmen of Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.
