Bishkek, Aug. 24, 2022./ Kabar /. An eco-marathon will start tomorrow in Issyk-Kul within the framework of the Kelechek youth forum of CIS and EAEU, Ambassador of the World Cleanup Day, President of the Eco-Demi Public Foundation Aizhan Chynybayeva told at a press conference at Kabar Agency.
She said that the participants of the marathon will collect garbage on the shore of the lake, sort it for speed.
“Our partners Clean Games hold similar campaigns in Russia; next year they will play the CIS Cup for volunteers who take part in saving their countries from garbage,” she said.
In addition, she called on all Kyrgyzstanis to support the annual action on World Cleanup Day, which will be held across the country on Sept.17. “Last year, 640,000 people took part in the action, which is 10% of the total population. If 10% of the population changes their behavior, then the rest will also change,” she added.
In turn, the head of the environmental protection department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic Kylychbek Tentimishev said that the department supports environmental actions in the country.
He said that environmental inspectors of the department will take part in the eco-marathon and on Sept. 17 in the action on World Cleanup Day, who will provide assistance and show problematic locations.
Also, the head of the Clean Issyk-Kul Public Foundation Anvar Shamsutdinov said that for 8 years their organization has been cleaning the bottom of the lake from debris and old poaching nets that continue to kill fish. “We distribute videos on our social media channels so that the population understands what an irresponsible and consumerist attitude towards nature leads to,” he said.
