Kyrgyzstan is famous for high mountains, clean ecology, blue spruce trees, and the highest mountain lakes - Son-Kul, Chatyr-Kul, Sary-Chelek and other smaller bodies of water among the high mountains.
However, the most famous and attractive lake for foreign visitors to Kyrgyzstan is Issyk-Kul Lake!
It is located in the north-east of the country. The lake is surrounded by high mountains - on average, their height is 4 thousand meters, and above sea level it is located at an altitude of 1600 meters. The deepest point of the lake is over 600 meters. The length of the lake is 182 km, the widest part is 56 km.
The most developed area of the lake is the northern part, where more than 75% of tourists come. It is in this part of the lake that a network of boarding houses and sanatoriums, rest houses and tourist centers is developed. The southern part of the lake has not yet been inhabited as the northern part, but in this side of the lake that the original appearance of the lake is preserved to the maximum extent.
You can get to the shores of the lake by car - the road from Bishkek to the tourist center in Issyk-Kul, Cholpon-Ata, takes 3 to 4 hours along a wide highway of international importance.
From 2020, the lake can be reached from different cities of the world by plane, including cities such as Moscow, Tashkent, Nur-Sultan. The international airport "Issyk-Kul" near the village of Tamchi in the summer months receives more than 10 flights a day.
