Bishkek, Feb. 9, 2023. / Kabar /. Japan will provide a $7.6 million grant to Kyrgyzstan.
According to the Ministry of Finance, a ceremony of signing the Exchange Notes and the Grant Agreement on the project "Improvement of medical equipment in Bishkek city and Chui region” was held between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic represented by t Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic Almaz Baketaev and the Government of Japan represented by Ambassador of Japan to the Kyrgyz Republic Hideki Goda and the permanent representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency in the Kyrgyz Republic Kawamoto Hiroyuki.
The ceremony was also attended by Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Talaibek Masabirov and Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Gulnara Baatyrova.
Thus, for the implementation of this project, the Japanese government provides a grant in the amount of up to 999 million Japanese yen (7.6 million US dollars).
The goal of the project is to strengthen diagnostic capacity by providing medical equipment.
Diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and Japan were established on January 26, 1992. Since the beginning of activities in Kyrgyzstan, 30 agreements have been signed by JICA and the Embassy of Japan of the Kyrgyz Republic, of which 4 investment projects are currently being implemented and 2 projects are being implemented as part of technical assistance.
The projects aim to improve the transport and health sectors.
