Bishkek, March 16, 2021 / Kabar /. Japan will provide Kyrgyzstan with about USD 135 thousand for medical equipment for the Bishkek Medical College, as well as a garbage truck and improvement of the water supply system in Issyk-Kul Oblast, the Japanese Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic said.
A ceremony of signing grant contracts was held on March 15, 2021, at the Japanese Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic, within the framework of the Grass Roots and Human Security grant program of the Government of Japan on three projects on improvement of learning conditions at the Bishkek Medical College, the provision of a garbage truck for the Ton region of Issyk-Kul Oblast and improvement of the water supply and sewerage system of Cholpon-Ata town.
The ceremony of signing grant contracts was attended by Ambassador of Japan to the Kyrgyz Republic Maeda Shigeki, representatives of ministries and heads of relevant institutions and organizations. Grant contracts were signed between the Ambassador of Japan to the Kyrgyz Republic Shigeki Maeda and the heads of relevant institutions and organizations.
In his welcoming speech, State Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic Kalysbek Shadykhanov expressed gratitude to the Embassy and the people of Japan for their assistance and invaluable contribution to the development of medicine in the Kyrgyz Republic, through the provision of assistance under the grant program of the Government of Japan. Kalysbek Shadykhanov also expressed the hope that the provided medical equipment to Bishkek Medical College will improve the educational conditions of this institution and improve the quality of education in the field of medicine.
In his speech, Maeda Shigeki noted that within the framework of the Grass Roots and Human Security grant program of the Japanese government, assistance is provided to the local population in such vital areas as medicine, education, social development, and also expressed the hope that the assistance provided will be effective used by the local population.
The heads of the grant recipient organizations expressed gratitude to the people and government of Japan for their invaluable contribution to improving the quality of life in the regions, improving the quality of education. They assured that the equipment provided will be used for its intended purpose and as efficiently as possible for the benefit of the country's population, and expressed hope for continued further cooperation in the implementation of joint projects.
The Grass Roots and Human Security grant program has been implemented in the Kyrgyz Republic since 1996. It is aimed at solving the problem of basic human needs with the application of the efforts of local authorities, primary health care institutions, primary education, non-governmental organizations, etc.
