Bishkek, Oct. 3, 2018. /Kabar/. From September 17 to 30, the Institute for Youth Development held the International Youth Forum-Camp entitled "Jashtyk: Territory of New Ideas" on September 17-30, which brought together more than 350 young people from all regions of the country, as well as neighboring countries.
The forum was aimed at increasing the economic potential of young people - to give camp participants the opportunity to acquire skills necessary for their career and personal growth, to increase their awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). An additional condition for a deeper understanding of the importance of the SDGs was that during the whole time the forum participants lived in conditions of minimal comfort, which helped to orient them towards developing a sense of responsibility for themselves and their surroundings.
The main component of the forum's program was the educational part, leading figures of the government, as well as representatives of both the business and non-profit sectors were invited as speakers. The speeches were delivered on the following topics: career and creativity, information and security, society and education, team and dream.
The Jashtyk forum was attended by Ex-President Roza Otunbayeva, Vice Prime Minister Altynai Omurbekova, Economy Minister Oleg Pankratov, member of Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Aida Kasymalieva, Head of the National Bank Tolkunbek Abdygulov, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Azamat Zhamankulov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dinara Kemelova, Executive Representative of UNFPA in Kyrgyzstan Meder Omurzakov, Head of the Strategic Projects Department of FINCA Bank Aleksandr Khvan, founder of the ProLex Foundation Nora Suyunalieva, and others.
Forum coordinator Nazik Mamasadykova noted that such a discussion platform allows to create a network of young active and concerned people not only within Kyrgyzstan, but also abroad.
“We wanted these guys to be able to step over the various stereotypes that could arise in their heads due to the characteristics of their place of residence, study, leisure time, and so on. Organization of such an event is a big responsibility for us. In a casual conversation, participants could ask all questions of interest to guests. We have already received feedback from the speakers, who noted that young people are very clever and all the questions that were asked are of interesting content. It was nice to know that after the completion of the Jashtyk, the participants, despite their separation by streams and squads, are already initiating the implementation of their projects,” Nazik Mamasadykova said.
The plans of the Institute for Youth Development include holding this camp annually and increasing the number of young people as participants of the International Youth Forum-Camp - "Jashtyk: Territory of New Ideas".
“I came to the forum for the opportunity to ask the speakers that interest me my questions - they were Roza Otunbayeva and Oleg Pakratov. When officials meet with representatives of different groups - this is right., we understand whether we can trust this person or not by the way they talk,” Mirbek Bekov, a forum participant, shared his impressions (Bishkek, 24 years old).
Partners of the event were: Fair & Sustainable Development Solutions, United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), the New Format Youth Center, the National Red Crescent Society of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Network of Lekar pharmacies, and Coca-Cola Kyrgyzstan.
