Ankara, Apr. 10, 2018 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a joint statement following the results of the talks.
At first the President of Turkey spoke about the reached agreements. He cordially greeted Jeenbekov and congratulated him on winning the presidential election in Kyrgyzstan in October 2017.
Erdogan said that one of the first foreign trips of the Kyrgyz President was a visit to Turkey, and this will certainly affect the strengthening of bilateral relations.
"Relations with Kyrgyzstan are of great importance for us, in 1991 we became the first state that recognized the independence of Kyrgyzstan. In 2011 our relations have acquired a strategic importance and we intend to continue to work in this direction in the future," the Turkish President said.
He further pointed out that cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey had acquired some difficulties after the attempted coup in Turkey in 2015. In this regard, the sides mutually make every effort to return the cooperation to the former strength of relations of fraternal peoples.
He also stressed that FETO contributed to the cooling of bilateral relations, but the visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan to Ankara indicates that no attempts will allow the two republics to withdraw from cooperation.
He also focused on the signed agreements and said that this event will contribute to enhancing cooperation between the two states in all areas.
Jeenbekov supported the words of his colleague and assured Kyrgyzstan's readiness to strengthen the existing relations.
According to the signed agreement on social security, Kyrgyz citizens can now receive pension benefits in Turkey.
During the talks, Jeenbekov also invited Erdogan to the events dedicated to the 90th anniversary of national writer Chyngyz Aitmatov, as well as to the Third World Nomad Games in September this year.
