Bishkek, Dec. 2, 2024. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev took part in the 5th meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Central Asia-China format, held on Dec.1 in Chengdu (China).
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of interaction between Central Asian states and China, emphasizing the intensification of cooperation since the China-Central Asia Summit in Xi'an in May 2023, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.
Having summarized the results of partnership since the Xi'an meeting of heads of Central Asian states and China, the sides outlined further plans within the framework of adopted mechanisms and platforms on specific key areas of cooperation for the nearest period.
Within the framework of the meeting, foreign ministers exchanged views on cooperation in the spheres of politics, trade, agriculture, investment attraction, green economy, energy, climate change and environmental protection, transportation and customs.
The meeting participants paid special attention to the issue of the content of the second Central Asia-China Summit to be held in 2025.
In his speech, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev emphasized that Central Asia and China have a significant potential for economic growth and development.
“Our region is located at the crossroads of ancient trade routes, and today, in the era of globalization, we have an opportunity to revive the role of Central Asia as a transit and logistics hub,” he noted.
The Kyrgyz minister also highlighted the importance of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad construction project, which is designed to become an important link in the One Belt, One Road initiative, open new avenues for trade, strengthen economic ties and improve people's living standards.
The meeting resulted in signing the “Joint Statement on the results of the fifth meeting of foreign ministers of the Central Asia-China format”.
