Bishkek, March 4, 2024. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev received Ivana Živković, U.N. Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Regional Director for Europe and CIS.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and UNDP, summed up the results of joint work in 2023 and discussed cooperation plans for 2024, upcoming visits, international and regional events.
The parties touched upon the implementation of the UN System Framework for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development for 2023-2027. Živković noted the readiness of UNDP to continue work on current projects being implemented in the Kyrgyz Republic to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
The parties discussed the need for further practical implementation of the national roadmap for the implementation of the Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions, including by attracting investments from international partners and donors. Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS, noting the importance of the country's mountain initiatives, announced UNDP's intention to create a Trust Fund for Nature Conservation in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Minister Kulubaev confirmed the interest of the Kyrgyz side in the further development of cooperation, and also assured of support and assistance for UNDP activities in Kyrgyzstan.
In turn, Živković, thanking for the warm welcome, noted the positive attitude towards expanding and strengthening the partnership between Kyrgyzstan and UNDP and assured that she would make all the necessary efforts for this.
Assistant Secretary General of the UN, Assistant Administrator of UNDP, Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS Živković arrived in Kyrgyzstan on her first working visit, which will last from March 3 to 7. During her visit, she will visit Osh and Batken regions, and also take part in a number of events in Bishkek.
