Jeenbekov addresses on occasion of 10th anniversary of April Revolution

Bishkek, Apr. 6, 2020 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov made an appeal on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the April Revolution.

The president’s press service said that in his address the head of state stressed the political and historical significance of this event, which marked the beginning of a turning point in the modern history of Kyrgyzstan.

He said that every year, the meaning and lessons of the People's Revolution are becoming ever more distinct.

“The heroes of the revolution, not fearing death, spoke out against the arbitrariness of the authorities, laid their heads in the name of the future people of Kyrgyzstan. This date is sacred to all of us. We perceive the dreams and aspirations of the heroes who gave their lives for the future of Kyrgyzstan as their testament to us. April 7 is a date that showed the whole world the freedom-loving and decisive will of our people every year should be celebrated with dignity,” President Jeenbekov said.

But, he said that because of the coronovirus pandemic all the activities are cancelled.

In connection with the pandemic, Jeenbekov once again asked the citizens to be at home and strictly observe discipline.

He said that all measures are being taken to combat the infection, to support vulnerable segments of the population and to alleviate the situation of entrepreneurs.

At the same time, the Kyrgyz president expressed deep gratitude to doctors.

“We must highly value the work of doctors and support the work of law enforcement agencies,” he said in his address.

Jeenbekov noted that the number of infected has already exceeded one million people in the world and in Kyrgyzstan this indicator is growing. Unfortunately, deaths have been reported.

Therefore, he once again stressed that only through strict adherence to discipline we effectively defend ourselves against the virus and put a reliable barrier to its spread.

The Kyrgyz president said that the government and local authorities have begun to provide targeted assistance to vulnerable groups, as there are citizens who are in a difficult situation, because they were temporarily left without work.

He expressed gratitude to the citizens and entrepreneurs who provide all possible assistance to people in need of support.

“We also greatly appreciate the help of our friendly states and international partners. We are not alone in the fight against this scourge,” Jeenbekov said.

At the same the Kyrgyz president asked not to forget about tomorrow.

“It is necessary to provide all possible support to our farmers for the timely conduct of spring field work,” he said.

“There were more difficult times that we experienced through unity and cohesion. And the current test also united our people, strengthened their unity,” President Jeenbekov concluded adding that Kyrgyzstan come out of this situation with honor.
