Jeenbekov: All regions of Kyrgyzstan will be fully provided with clean water in nearest 5 years

Bishkek, Feb.20, 2020. /Kabar/. In the nearest 5 years, all regions of Kyrgyzstan will be fully provided with clean water, Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed while addressing the session of the Parliament.

According to the President, the country has a special approach to the issue of clean drinking water supply, which has been identified as a priority in the development of the country's economy.

"In recent years, 107 villages have been provided with clean drinking water. By 2024, we will complete construction works in 715 villages and renew the clean water infrastructure. In general, in the nearest 5 years, all regions of Kyrgyzstan will be fully provided with clean water," he said.

Jeenbekov informed that currently a list of 588 villages has been created through the financing of international financial institution, and a financial source worth KGS 33 billion has been identified.

Negotiations with investors to raise the necessary funds will continue.

"Basically, we attract long-term loans with grant elements. Funds are also allocated from the budget. Clean water is the health of the people, the health of the nation. Without clean water there will be no development," Jeenbekov said.

He also noted it is not in vain that the state attaches special importance to the implementation of the irrigation program. After all, it has a direct impact on food security. Irrigation is a job, new irrigated land. It means reduction of migration, regional development, appearance of new settlements.

"This is our ambitious goal, and we focus all our efforts on its achievement, as this program is a national project, aimed at the future of a new generation," he concluded.

At the Parliament session, new members of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic took the oath.

President Jeenbekov to addressed the session of the Parliament, where he focused on current issues of the country's development and strengthening harmony in society.
