Jeenbekov: Along with rehabilitation of Toktogul HPP, other HPPs are also being reconstructed

Bishkek, Oct.18, 2019. /Kabar/. “Along with rehabilitation of Toktogul HPP, other HPPs in country are also being reconstructed,” President Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed at the solemn event on the occasion of completion of the first phase of the Toktogul HPP’s reconstruction.

The President noted the reconstruction of the At-Bashy hydropower plant is in progress. The sources of financing for commissioning of the second unit of Kambar-Ata HPP-2 and reconstruction of Uch-Kurgan HPP have been determined, selection of contractors has been started.

In general, in the field of hydropower, increasing the output capacity by 400 megawatts is expected until 2023.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov emphasized the dynamics in the energy sector.

Major foreign investments are attracted for construction and modernization of strategically important facilities. Energy sector management reforms are underway.

“Implementation of projects on a national scale is our task for the future. These include the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP, the Upper Naryn HPP Cascade, and the Kazarman HPP Cascade. It takes 11 years to commission the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP and achieve its rated capacity (1900 MW),” Jeenbekov stressed.
