Bishkek, Nov. 28, 2018. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov received today Global Programme Manager, Special Advisor on Prevention of Violent Extremism at the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Alexander Avanesov and a delegation from the Counter-Terrorism Department of the UN and UNDP.
The President’s press service reported that the issues and measures to jointly counter extremism and radicalism were discussed at the meeting.
The head of state noted that Kyrgyzstan is making significant efforts to implement the UN Global Anti-Terrorism Strategy. He recalled the adopted Concept of State Policy in the Religious Sphere for 2014–2020 and the Kyrgyz Government’s Program on Countering Extremism and Terrorism for 2017–2022.
The UNDP Special Advisor on Prevention of Violent Extremism outlined the main purpose of the mission’s arrival - to assist in the fight against extremism and terrorism.
“We are ready to maintain a constructive dialogue in all areas of cooperation. I thank everyone for their active and productive work,” Jeenbekov said wishing the Office team a successful mission.
