The government needs to intensify the work of the Council on interaction with donors, and for the success of ongoing programs and projects, it is necessary to create a separate structural unit for coordinating donor assistance, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov told at the meeting with development partners and donors.
He said that Kyrgyzstan had decided on a strategy and intends to implement it consistently, stimulating internal growth potential and using external resources.
“But our efforts alone, unfortunately, are not enough at this stage. We need the support of our partners in this case in order to meet the challenges of development. I would like to place emphasis on the effectiveness of the use of donor assistance. Today, I call on all parties, both international organizations and partner countries, and our state bodies, to optimize and timely adopt programs and projects, to use financial resources more efficiently,” he said.
The country leader considers it necessary to intensify the dialogue platform on the coordination of donor assistance between all parties on a regular, continuous basis.
“The implementation of this task will be undertaken by the Secretariat of the National Council for Strategic Development. The supervision over the Secretariat will be carried out by the head of the President’s Office, as an institution responsible for the development of the country. I believe that the Government should intensify work concerning the Council for interaction with donors. For the success of ongoing programs and projects, it is necessary to create a separate structural unit for coordinating donor assistance. It is necessary to once again review all ongoing and planned projects in order to confirm all indicators of efficiency, effectiveness and deadlines. Based on the tasks ahead of us, I also consider it reasonable to hold Donor Conference in the spring of 2019,” he concluded.
