Bishkek, Dec. 21, 2018. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, speaking today at a solemn event on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Jogorku Kenesh, called the deputies to be open to criticism of the people.
First of all, the head of state pointed out that today Kyrgyzstan is known in the international arena as an “island of democracy”.
“To date, all sensitive issues, problems of the people, some closed issues are raised through the rostrum of the parliament and attract public attention. The voice of the opposition and civil society is heard through the parliament. We can say that we have no closed issues unknown to the parliament. We are an open society, everything is voiced, all affairs reach the people,” Jeenbekov told.
He emphasized that the parliament had made a great contribution to the transparent activities of the branches of government, and the availability of government decisions for the people.
“The Parliament fulfills all three of its main functions – representative, legislative and supervisory - successfully. The last convocations have adequately mastered the activity of a new type for our parliament - these are functions of party factions,” the head of state said.
But the President also pointed out that sharp criticism towards the Jogorku Kenesh is heard from the public, and the parliament should be open to such opinions.
