Ashgabad, Aug. 23, 2018. /Kabar/. President Sooronbay Jeenbekov called signing of the Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan a historical event at the briefing on the results of the meeting with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
“It is my first visit to Turkmenistan. Today we have discussed the state and prospects of bilateral relations and defined areas for our further cooperation,” Jeenbekov said.
The Kyrgyz President stressed the constructive and informative manner of the negotiations that were held in traditional spirit of mutual trust and openness between the two countries.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov highlighted that during the negotiations special attention was given to partnership in trade and economic area and the need to increase mutual turnover.
He stressed that in this regard an important role is played by the Kyrgyz-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission for trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation, which after a two-year break, resumed its work in July of this year in Ashgabad. The joint trade-investment session has taken place for the first time.
“Priority areas for our cooperation are the transport sphere, expanding opportunities of using the transport-transit potential, mutual exchange of agricultural and industry products, as well as interaction on the level of the regions of two countries,” Jeenbekov said.
Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov is now in Turkmenistan with a state visit.
