Bishkek, Sept. 1, 2020 / Kabar /. “Conducting fair elections is the main condition for the further development of our country,” Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said today at a regular meeting of the Security Council in a narrow format.
“We all must make an effort to do this. As president, I have already said that the openness of elections will be provided. I am doing and will continue this work. My main task as president is to preserve sovereignty, integrity, unity and order,” he said urging political parties, their supporters and teams to refrain from illegal actions during the election campaign.
The head of state noted the openness of civil society, which actively expresses its controlling position and will assess illegal actions.
“The right to elect the parties running for parliament remains with the voters. I am sure that our people will take advantage of this historic opportunity with great responsibility," Jeenbekov stressed.
The head of state emphasized that it is not allowed to disturb the peace of society, hinder the free choice of citizens.
He added that no matter what the struggle, there will always be a losing side, in connection with which politicians and candidates should abandon their ambitions, and if they lose, they should not provoke people to illegal actions.
He once again noted that political parties must learn to think about the future of the country, children and draw the right conclusions.
“Reminding my compatriots once again that the interests of the country are above all, I call on everyone to political responsibility and maturity,” the president concluded.
