Bishkek, Nov. 1, 2018. /Kabar/. The process of regional development will not be limited to 2018. The development of the regions of Kyrgyzstan is a priority for the next five years, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov told at the meeting with the donor community in Bishkek.

He said that for the development of regions it is necessary to create conditions for steady development. “This process is not ending this year. This will be a priority for the next 5 years. The regions should receive the necessary opportunities and resources to implement their own development programs,” he said.

The President noted that the priority in regional policy is the improvement of the infrastructure of residential areas.

“The program of digitalization of infrastructure connecting the regions will also be launched. The Mortgage Lending Program will be expanded, focused on improving the living conditions of the population in the regions,” Jeenbekov added.

The President named the implementation of the Taza Suu project among the important tasks.

“In the next five years, the task is to ensure access to clean drinking water in all populated areas. One of the most important tasks is the construction and restoration of the water supply and sewerage system in 653 villages, including the construction and restoration of the water supply and sewerage system in 26 regional centers and 22 cities. The construction of irrigation networks and other projects at the national level is extremely important for us. To create new jobs in rural areas, the State Program for the Development of Irrigation will be implemented, under which it is planned to additionally arrange more than 27 thousand hectares of new irrigated land,” the President added.

In the near future, according to Jeenbekov, the task is to strengthen the primary health care services, including the first emergency aid.

“Regardless of where they live, citizens will have access to medical care. Digital technologies, telemedicine and online counseling will be introduced,” the President emphasized.

Jeenbekov added that for the development of regions it is necessary to revise the system of territorial governance, taking into account objective socio-economic processes.

“To develop an optimal solution to this issue, an instruction was given by the Presidential decree to develop a roadmap for reforms. A working group consisting of representatives of all concerned parties began its work,” the President concluded.
