Jeenbekov discusses with head of European Council measures to counteract COVID-19

Bishkek, Apr. 2, 2020 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov and President of the European Council Charles Michel had a telephone conversation today.

During the conversation, topical issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed, as well as measures to counteract coronavirus infection, the Kyrgyz president’s press service reported.

The head of state expressed his support in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection in the EU countries and expressed hope for an early improvement in the epidemiological situation in the world.

Jeenbekov also spoke about measures taken by the Kyrgyz side to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection and mitigate the negative effects on the economy of Kyrgyzstan.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov suggested the European side to consider the possibility of providing additional assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic to minimize the negative consequences of the spread of coronavirus infection.

The President of the European Council expressed support for the Kyrgyz side in the fight against this disease and noted that the EU will consider the best options for providing financial support to the country.
