Jeenbekov held meeting to discuss situation with coronavirus

Bishkek, Jan. 27, 2020 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov held an extended meeting with Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev, leadership of the President’s Office, some members of the government, heads of several government agencies on the situation in connection with coronavirus.

The meeting participants discussed measures taken by the relevant state bodies to prevent the virus from entering the country, the President’s press service reported.

Minister of Health Kosmosbek Cholponbaev, Chairman of the State Border Service Ularbek Sharsheev, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nuran Niyazaliev, Director of the State Inspectorate for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Safety Kalysbek Zhumakanov informed the President on the taken measures.

As noted, the operational headquarters of the Government of the country operates to monitor the epidemiological situation and take the necessary measures to prevent the entry of a new coronavirus into the republic. It included representatives of relevant state bodies.

At the moment, not a single case of coronavirus infection has been recorded in the country, the epidemiological situation in the country is under control. Specialists of sanitary quarantine stations check the passengers with a thermal imager at checkpoints in the country.

According to official figures, there are 4,614 Kyrgyz students in China today, 14 of them in Wuhan. The Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in China maintains constant contact with them.

The President emphasized the need for round-the-clock monitoring of the epidemiological situation in the country. He called for strengthening all the necessary preventive measures, emphasized the importance of constantly informing the country's population about the current situation in order to prevent the dissemination of false information.

The Kyrgyz government was recommended to develop a specific action plan to prevent the virus from entering the territory of Kyrgyzstan and preventive measures, and to strengthen work at the country's checkpoints.
