Jeenbekov: I want to see civil society as main partner in fighting corruption

Bishkek, July 19, 2018 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov held a meeting with representatives of the civil society of Kyrgyzstan.

President Jeenbekov speaking the representatives of the non-governmental sector stressed the cooperation between state bodies and civil society in the development of the country. “Despite the fact where a person works, in the non-governmental sector or state structure, the goal should be one - development of the state, improvement of people's livelihood, labor for the benefit of the future of Kyrgyzstan. Close constructive communication between state bodies and civil society creates prerequisites for openly voicing problems and goals. Such cooperation is the basis for successful work,” the President’s press service cited his words.

"I know you, as the people who are not indifferent to the future of the state, working in non-governmental organizations, with high intellectual potential. Our today's meeting with you also takes place in the interests of the state and the people. You are an active and direct participant in the formation of democratic processes and important political changes in Kyrgyzstan," Jeenbekov said.

He expressed the desire that representatives of civil society were active not only in political issues, but also in solving other problems of the country and send all their knowledge, experience and energy for the creation of the people's interests.

"We all have one mission - development of Kyrgyzstan, strengthening of its independence, freedom, democratic values, consent. Great writer Chyngyz Aitmatov said: "We are all in the same boat." Our boat is Kyrgyzstan, "Jeenbekov said.

He noted that a strong civil society in Kyrgyzstan and said that this is an achievement that can be proud of and this potential in the interests of the state needs to be preserved and strengthened.

"We are ready to work with the civil sector, to be partners, we are open to constructive ideas and criticism," the president said.

He stressed that as the President, his main task is to strengthen the unity of the multinational people.

"National accord is our top priority. A big role belongs to representatives of civil society in this important matter. I want to call you to support me not only to strengthen peace and harmony in our country, but also unite all the best forces, mobilize all our resources to build a prosperous state with fair power and consent society," said Jeenbekov.

Touching upon the fight against corruption, the Head of State aid that he receives signals that now there are many people who doubt the seriousness of the authorities' intentions. “Today, together with you, I declare: The fight against corruption will be on an ongoing and systematic basis! We will bring this struggle to its logical conclusion! Therefore, your support, dear civil activists, is needed. I want to see civil society as the main partner in the fight against corruption," Jeenbekov stressed.

He also dwelt on the judicial reform, noting that the implementation of this reform is a very serious task, requiring strength and strong will, since this reform will put a stop to many corrupt officials. And in this struggle, the assistance of civil society is also needed.

In addition, the head of state recalled that in 2018, his Decree was declared the Year of Regional Development.

"I know that many civilian activists work in the regions. In this sphere, the state also needs your help. It is vitally important for us to promote social, developmental projects, citizens' initiatives. I hope that together we will work in this direction," Jeenbekov said.
