Bishkek, Nov.4, 2019. /Kabar/. Today, Nov.4 Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Head of the Expert Working Group on Reforming the Road Safety Units of Internal Affairs Bodies Tamerlan Ibrayimov.
Secretary of Kyrgyzstan’s Security Council Damir Sagynbayev also took part in the meeting.
The progress of the pilot project to ensure road safety and measures to improve road and public safety of the country's citizens were discussed, the press service of the Kyrgyz President reported.
President Jeenbekov noted with satisfaction the reform of the internal affairs bodies' subdivisions, ensuring road safety, had yielded the first practical results - the Patrol Police started operating in two districts of Bishkek on a pilot mode.
“The pilot project has gained good experience in the selection of new unit staff, including civilians. The public should have no doubts about the transparency and openness of the competition. Citizens should trust and trust patrolmen and, where necessary, rely on their protection,” Jeenbekov said.
Head of the Expert Working Group Tamerlan Ibrayimov stated the activities of the Patrol Police will be closely linked to the implementation of the Safe City project.
By the end of 2019 it is planned to cover the whole city of Bishkek with the project.
After the full complement of the staff in Bishkek, it is planned to implement the Patrol Police project in Osh city, also by merging the units of the Directorate of Road Safety and the Patrol and Post Service, and further implement the project throughout the country.
Note that exactly one year ago, in November 2018, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov approved the Strategy for Reforming the Road Safety Units of Internal Affairs Bodies and the draft Action Plan for the implementation of the pilot project to establish the Patrol Police in Bishkek.
On Oct.31 the Patrol Police started operating in the pilot mode in two districts of Bishkek.
