Bishkek, Feb.1, 2018 / Kabar /. Within the framework of official visit of President of Kyrgyzstan, Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Tajikistan and his negotiations with President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon were held in an extended format.
Jeenbekov once again thanked Rahmon for the invitation to have an official visit to Tajikistan, as well as for his provided warm welcome and hospitality.
"I take this opportunity to congratulate all those present on this remarkable anniversary date, the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan. For a quarter of a century our countries jointly established effective cooperation in all key areas. The Kyrgyz Republic attributes great importance to further development of the Kyrgyz-Tajik relations, the deepening of mutually beneficial multifaceted cooperation, and strengthening of good-neighborly relations with Tajikistan," the Head of Kyrgyz State said.
Jeenbekov stressed that with Rahmon in a narrow format they discussed a wide range of bilateral issues and reached mutual understanding on many of them.
"It is gratifying that our opinions and positions on many key issues coincided. To activate the full range of bilateral cooperation, it is necessary to improve the effectiveness of bilateral mechanisms. In this regard, the Interstate Coordination Council, the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission for the Integrated Review of Bilateral Issues and the Delimitation and Demarcation of the State Border should work on a regular basis. Our people have been waiting for a long time to complete the delimitation of the state border. An early resolution of the delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border and signing of the relevant treaty will be an important factor in strengthening security and stability in the border area," the Kyrgyz leader said.
In this regard, Jeenbekov stressed that in near future it is necessary to intensify the work of government working groups and to hold a meeting to finalize the legal framework for describing and tracing the line of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.
In addition, the Kyrgyz President specified the need for joint effective measures in the sphere of protecting state borders, combating terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.
Jeenbekov stressed that concrete measures should be taken to intensify trade and economic cooperation and create favorable conditions for increasing the volume of goods turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
"In this regard, I propose that we instruct the governments of our countries to develop mechanisms for cooperation in export, import and re-export of goods, taking into account the membership of Kyrgyzstan in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the presence of the status of the Generalised Scheme of Preferences + (GSP+). Establish cooperation between chambers of commerce and explore the possibility of creating Business Council between our republics. It is necessary to help business circles and economic entities of our countries in establishing contacts and concluding contracts," Jeenbekov said.
The Kyrgyz leader also suggested conducting in near future a business forum with participation of Tajik entrepreneurs in Bishkek.
In addition, to create the necessary conditions for mutual trips of citizens and the development of tourism, the Kyrgyz President suggested increasing the number of flights between the countries on Bishkek-Dushanbe-Bishkek route.
"We are very grateful and glad to the participation of Tajik athletes in the First and Second World Nomad Games. I hope that Tajikistan will support and take an active part in the Third World Nomad Games, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan in September of this year. We also invite the Tajik side to take part in the International Festival dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the great Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov and the 30th anniversary of the Issyk-Kul Forum," the Head of Kyrgyzstan said.
He stressed that just recently the last novel by Chyngyz Aitmatov When the mountains are falling was published in Tajik language.
"I would especially like to emphasize that we are grateful to the efforts of the Tajik side to support the study of the Kyrgyz language in schools located in the areas of ethnic Kyrgyz, residing in the territory of Tajikistan. In this regard, the relevant departments of our countries are working to provide schools with the Kyrgyz language books in Murgab and Jergetalsky districts of the Republic of Tajikistan," the President of Kyrgyzstan stressed.
Jeenbekov also emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is interested in promoting common positions of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on introduction of rational water use mechanisms in the region. "In this regard, it is necessary to make joint efforts to develop regional cooperation in the framework of the Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on the use of water and energy resources of Syr Darya river basin dated from March 17, 1998," the Head of Kyrgyz State said.
The Kyrgyz President specified that Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan occupy close positions on key issues of international agenda and closely cooperate at international and regional organizations within the framework of the UN, CIS, CSTO and the SCO. "In this regard, I sincerely want to wish success to the Chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan in the CIS during 2018," Jeenbekov said, and at the end of his speech once again thanked Emomali Rahmon for the active spirit in the development of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Jeenbekov invited Rahmon to visit Kyrgyzstan with a return official visit at any time convenient for him.
