Jeenbekov: Kyrgyzstan negotiates with Russia on supply of COVID-19 vaccine

Bishkek, Sept. 12, 2020 / Kabar /. Negotiations are underway with Russia to supply COVID-19 vaccine to Kyrgyzstan.

In an interview with state radio President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov said that as part of measures to combat the disease, the relevant authorities of the two countries are negotiating on the supply of vaccines to Kyrgyzstan.

The head of state noted that it is very important to bring the vaccine to our country and that coronavirus infection continues to pose a threat to humanity.

“The Russian Federation was the first country to develop a vaccine against it. It is reported that it has already completed clinical trials. It is known that recently Russia has begun to introduce the use of the vaccine. I am sure that the mass production of the vaccine will soon be launched," Jeenbekov concluded.

To date, Kyrgyzstan has tallied 44,828 COVID-19 patients, 40,779 recoveries, and 1,063 fatalities.
