Ankara, Apr. 10, 2018. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov laid flowers to the bust of Chyngyz Aitmatov on the same name street in Ankara.
Today, on Apr. 10, the President Jeenbekov, within the framework of his two-day visit to Turkey, laid flowers to the bust of Chyngyz Aitmatov by honoring his memory with a minute of silence.
Mayor of Ankara city Mustafa Tuna also took part in the event. President Jeenbekov expressed his gratitude for supporting the idea of installing a bust and commemorating the memory of the great writer.
It should be noted that yesterday summarizing the talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Jeenbekov said that 2018 was declared by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) as the Year of the Great Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov.
"My official visit to Turkey coincided with the beginning of the Year of Aitmatov - this is a historic event," the head of state said.
The idea of installing a bust on the street named after Chyngyz Aitmatov belongs to the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Turkey, and was initiated on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the writer that was celebrated in 2014. The idea was approved by the municipality of Ankara, which allocated funds for its production. The author of the bust is Kyrgyz sculptor Chyngyz Shakeyev.
