Bishkek, Mar. 19, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov received Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the country to China Kanayim Baktygulova, to Switzerland Daniyar Mukashev, to Turkey Kubanychbek Omuraliev and Kazakhstan Jeenbek Kulubayev.
Issues of foreign policy of Kyrgyzstan and the main directions of ambassadors' activities in these countries were discussed, the press service of the Kyrgyz President’s Office reported.
The head of state recalled a meeting with heads of overseas agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic held on March 14, 2019, reiterating the need for urgent approval of specific 3-year tasks of ambassadors and consuls general, as well as clear criteria for evaluating their activities.
He noted that meetings with ambassadors and consuls general of Kyrgyzstan will be held annually to assess their activities in accomplishing their tasks.
The President outlined the main priority areas of cooperation with each of the countries concerning strengthening of political, trade, economic, investment, scientific, technical, cultural, humanitarian bilateral and multilateral cooperation. He noted the importance of attracting investors to priority areas, including regions of the country, to increase the share of Kyrgyzstan’s exports in trade.
“We need to intensify ties between our countries and make better use of the existing potential,” Jeenbekov said.
In addition, he recalled that one of the important directions in the foreign policy of Kyrgyzstan is protection of the rights and interests of citizens residing abroad, and noted the need to create favorable conditions for ensuring the electoral right of Kyrgyz people in these countries.
Issues of preparation for the state visit of Chinese leader Xi Jinping to Kyrgyzstan and the upcoming SCO Summit, which will be held in Bishkek in July 2019, were discussed with the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to China.
